Prime function: To continue to develop the School’s commercial activities in order to maximise income from non-core activities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work with the Bursar to define and implement the School’s Enterprises business development strategy. This will form part of the wider School Strategic Development Plan.
  • Line manage a team of 6 Enterprises Staff including 3 Technicians.
  • Coordinate the delivery of all commercial enterprise activity and initiatives across the School including all existing hires and lets.

This includes:

  • Residential Wells Cathedral School Summer Music Schools
  • Externally run residential summer lets
  • Regular bookings/events held throughout the year
  • Hire of sports facilities throughout the year, including the swimming pool
  • Externally run holiday day camps
  • Commercial use of Cedars Hall including recordings
  • Oversee the growth, and optimise the profitability, of existing non core commercial activity
  • Develop, review and maintain pricing levels for all commercial hires and lets. This will include clear guidance on any concessions
  • Identify product/market opportunities and develop new revenue stream opportunities in conjunction with internal colleagues

 

Other Areas of Responsibility

  • Client Retention
  • Work with other internal colleagues to meet customer needs. This includes liaison with Catering Manager, Hospitality Manager, Head of Domestic Services and Estates Bursar to ensure the smooth running of lets and events.
  • Arrange and participate in internal and external client debriefs
  • Present, as appropriate, new products and services and enhance existing relationships
  • Business Development Planning
  • Attend industry functions, such as association events and conferences, and provide feedback and information on market and creative trends. Utilise the membership of the Schools Enterprise Association to aid business development
  • Present to and consult with the Bursar and Enterprises Team on business trends with a view to developing new services, products, and distribution channels
  • Work with colleagues to identify opportunities for campaigns, services, and distribution channels that will lead to an increase in sales
  • Work with colleagues to increase knowledge of the market and competitors, identify and develop the School’s unique selling propositions and differentiators
  • Management and Compliance
  • Submit accurate monthly progress reports
  • Ensure that data is accurately entered and managed within WCS Enterprises’ management systems including monthly updates on the WCS Commercial Accounts Spreadsheet
  • Forecast sales targets and ensure they are met by the team
  • Develop and maintain relevant contract documentation for hires and lets
  • Ensure compliance with all school policies particularly with regard to safeguarding and health and safety. Work with colleagues to ensure compliance with all relevant licences (alcohol, music, entertainment)
  • Ensure all services provided enhance the reputation of the WCS Enterprises and the School
