The Caterham School Sports Centre offers a wide range of facilities, including a brand new state of the art Gym, 25 metre Swimming Pool, Sports Hall, All-Weather Pitch and the multi-use Stephen Smith Room. In addition to providing first class facilities for pupils, the Sports Centre plays an important role in generating commercial income for the School.  The facilities also extend to the Wildcats Adventure area incorporating an outdoor climbing wall and high-ropes course, and Hill Fields Sports Pavilion located a short distance from the centre. The Sports Centre also plays a pivotal role in the Wildcats Holiday Camp activities during the school holidays.We are seeking to recruit an enthusiastic, energetic Senior Duty Manager to join the Sports Centre team. This position requires excellent interpersonal and organisational skills, and also requires the ability to work independently, taking responsibility for the day-to-day operation of the centre when on duty.Key responsibilities:

Operations & General Duties

  • Overall responsibility for the day-to-day operation of the sports centre and for the management of all Sports Centre staff.
  • Responsible for rota management of the Duty Managers, Sports Centre Assistants and Reception teams. Organising cover when required, fairly and equally.
  • Using established channels of communication, liaise with the school maintenance, grounds, caretaking and housekeeping departments to ensure the effective management of all buildings and facilities.
  • Work as part of a team and individually on a rota basis
  • Ensure that a process of regular checks of all facilities is in place, and that opening and closing procedures are being carried out by staff
  • Providing cover on reception for staff breaks and any unmanned periods as and when required
  • To attend the Sports Centre and Hill Fields Sports Pavilion when required as a key holder including on an emergency basis.

Undertake any other duties as reasonably requested.

  • Health and Safety & Training
  • Comply with safe working practices and adhere to the H&S requirements and School regulations. Ensuring health and safety instructions are always adhered to by staff and customers.
  • As a NPLQ Trainer Assessor, deliver the ongoing training for the lifeguard team in accordance with the RLSS guidelines and Sports Centre SOP.
  • Complete annual reviews of all Risk Assessments, the NOP & EAP, identifying when these documents require review and updating them accordingly.
  • Take responsibility for the overall safe operation of the swimming pool, including assisting with the maintenance of plant room equipment, carrying out regular water testing and balancing the chemistry and treatment of the pool water.
  • Ensure that all accidents, incidents and near misses are logged and reporting forms are completed in full.
